Week 6

Week 6 started with my first Mother's Day! Daddy brought breakfast and we put Maddox in his Bumbo seat for the first time. It was too cute. We just put him right up on the dining room table with us while we ate. He held his head up really well, it was at least 20 mins or so before he started giving up and slouching to one side. During breakfast Daddy gave me a gorgeous Mother's Day card and a present that he and Maddox picked out together. It was a beautiful necklace that had a silver heart with diamonds, inside the heart is a silhouette of a mother holding a baby. I just love it!!! After breakfast we headed to the Beaumont's house for a Mother's Day party and we spent the evening at my parents house. It felt really good to have everyone tell me "Happy Mother's Day" The last few Mother's Days have been hard for me, there was a time when I thought I would never be included in this prestigious club. I feel very blessed and am incredibly thankful that I get to celebrate this year with my BEAUTIFUL son, my wonderful husband, and both of our loving and supportive families. I got cards from my mother, of course, my sister, Jay's parents, Tisha and Will, and Rob.

Maddox had his 6 weeks pictures taken this week. The same company that took pics at the hospital came out to the house for a few quick shots. He is not smiling on command just yet but he still looked pretty cute. I will post a couple as soon as I receive them.

Week 5

Maddox had his one month doctor appointment this week. It is so hard to believe that he is already one month old. It feels like just last week I was pregnant. Everyone always says "they grow up so fast" and they are not kidding. He weighed in at 10.2 pounds, 60th percentile and 22.25 inches long, 74th percentile. His head circumference was 14.25 inches which only puts him in the 12th percentile, so basically we have a big baby with a little head. I think his head is just perfect though. The worst part of this appointment was that Maddox's skin had re-attached itself from where he was circumcised and they had to pull it back which made it bleed quite a bit, and then the doctor didn't even finish it. It was horrible, he screamed in pain. She told us to pull the rest back the next day. Needless to say we were back at the doctor 3 days later because we were not sure we had gotten it all and wanted them to finish what they started. We had our roughest couple of days with Maddox so far. There were 2 days and nights in a row where he was not a happy camper at all. He fussed and fussed and cried and cried. We think he had an upset stomach, I felt so helpless, it seemed like there was nothing I could do to make him feel better. Its the worse feeling in the world. We are still not sure what caused it, but just in case I can't eat my favorite Skyline or Gold Star chili for awhile.

Maddox got to meet his cousin Lucas this week. Lucas was sooo cute. He kept touching his face and his hands and trying to say his name. He had it pretty close. He also kept asking to hold him so we kinda propped Maddox up on Lucas' lap and that seemed to make Lucas very proud.

Here are some of my favorite pics from the week. I also just realized that I must have had the date set wrong on my camera cause they all say 2009. I am pretty upset about it, now the first 1000 or so pictures of Maddox all have the wrong date.

Week 4

This week cousin Jeff from Florida happened to be in town for a quick visit, so we all got together for dinner. We usually only get to see him once or twice a year so any extra visit is a big bonus. Maddox is starting to become much more alert lately. It is so much fun watching him just look around and take it all in. He is starting to smile....it takes a lot of work and we usually only get one or two but I got one of the first on camera which makes me really happy. I know everyone says it could be gas but believe me this boy has more gas then any baby I have every heard of and we know the difference. Seriously though, I can't believe it is possible for a baby to fart so much, and they really stink too. In fact during Maddox's first trip to the mall with Grammy he was farting so bad that she had to keep moving around because she didn't want people to think it was her. The doctor says it is perfectly normal but I am telling you there is nothing normal about Maddox's stinky stinky butt!!!!

Saturday I went to Mt. Orab to meet my mom to buy flowers and I went without Maddox. It was the longest I have ever been away from him so far. It was only 5 hours but it felt so much longer. When I got home it seemed like I hadn't seen him in days or something. Going back to work next month is going to be hard. He spent the day with Daddy and when I walked in Maddox was naked and curled up on the couch with Jay. You see, all we had left in new born diapers were Huggies and new born Huggies are not so good for boys, at least my boy, because he is always peeing out the top. I guess Maddox had peed out of 3 so far and Jay had to change his clothes 3 times so he refused to put anymore clothes on him until I got home with pampers. It was pretty funny seeing Jay get all frustrated.

Week 3

Maddox had a very busy week this week. For starters, his cord finally fell off which meant that we could finally give him a real bath. He was not liking his sponge baths...too cold for him I guess. He seemed to really like his bath, he was very pleasant and curious. I loved washing what little hair he has. It smells so good I could just eat him. He hated coming out of the bath...even though I was standing by with a big hooded towel to keep him nice and warm he screamed and shivered for at least 3 mins before pooping right in the clean towel and all over his clean butt!
I took Maddox to work this week so everyone could finally meet him. I think it wore him out, we were there for over 3 hours and at least 25 people held him. He is not used to staying awake for that long. Everyone just loved him and it was really good to see them. It is crazy how much you miss people, but considering that I usually spend everyday, all day with my co-workers I guess its normal. We also started walking with Jaime and Sam in the park this week. Maddox slept the entire time but I am hoping he eventually enjoys it. I love to get out and chat about new "mommy stuff" with Jaime plus the exercise is great for both of us. Sam is only 3 weeks older than Maddox so we have a lot to talk about and a lot to learn from each other.

Maddox enjoying a visit from Grammy and Pop Pop.

Maddox had a visit from another future playmate, Brycen Lally. Brycen is about 1 month older than Maddox, he pretty much slept through the entire play date again but someday I am sure they will have lots of fun together.

Maddox grew out of one of his newborn sleepers this week. Still plenty of room around but no more room length wise. He is still wearing almost all newborn or 0-3 months items but he is having trouble stretching out his legs in some of the sleepers with the built in feet. It is sooo cute. Our life is pretty simple right now, Maddox and I hang out all day while he pretty much just eats and sleeps and we wait for Daddy to come home. He stops in everyday at lunch so I try to keep Maddox awake so he can have a quick visit and then we usually spend the evenings watching the Reds on TV. We go to the Beaumonts every Tuesday night for family night just like always and we try to spend lots of family time together on the weekends, the weather has been beautiful but Maddox won't open his eyes outside if the sun is shining just yet.

Week 2

This week started with Maddox's first outing. He even wore shoes for the first time. We went to Ihop with Nana for breakfast and then made a quick stop by the tattoo shop to see Daddy. Jay has been talking about getting this tattoo since before we were even married. He has been so excited. We took Maddox's hand prints at 6 days old and now they are inked in Jay's skin forever. It will be so neat put Maddox's hands up to it as he grows up. You can't see it in the picture but Maddox's tattoo is right next to the tattoo of my initials so now Jay has his whole little family right there on his right arm.

Taking a little cat nap with Aunt Ehryn. He doesn't know it yet but while he is laying on her belly he is getting to know his future best friend, Baby Cartwright.

Maddox had his first trip to church with the entire Beaumont clan.

Here is a side by side pick of Maddox at just over 1 week old and a pic of my 3-D ultrasound at 28 weeks pregnant It it completely amazing how similar they are.
Monday was a pretty tough day for me. Jay went back to work and it was the first day I was completely by myself with Maddox. There is nothing like 10 hours without him to show me just how much Jay helps with Maddox. He is such an amazing dad and he was very, very missed. By the end of the day I was so happy to see Jay, I was in tears. I probably should have asked someone to come over for a couple hours or something instead of just going cold turkey, especially with post pregnant/delivery hormones, but I think I got the hang of things by mid week.

Family night at the Beaumonts, sharing swing time with Sam.

This is Maddox's and Jay's favorite way to nap. My boys...aren't they adorable?

After seeing how much Maddox seemed to like the swing at Grammy's house, the 3 of us headed to Babies R Us to get one for our house. Sometimes he loves it, sometimes he hates it.
